PTSD assistance dog Lynne book

My PTSD assistance dog, Lynne, and I have written a book about how she helps me with my military Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, anxiety, and depression. I talk about my time in the QAs and the coping strategies I now use to be in my best health.

Along the way, I have had help from various military charities, such as Help for Heroes and The Not Forgotten Association and royalties from this book will go to them and other charities like Bravehound, who paired me with my four-legged best friend.

I talk openly about the death of my son by suicide and the help I got from psychotherapy and counselling and grief charities like The Compassionate Friends.

The author, Damien Lewis, said of Lynne:

"A powerful account of what one dog means to one man on his road to recovery. Both heart-warming and life-affirming. Bravo Chris and Lynne. Bravo Bravehound."

New post apocalyptic military survival thriller

Former Royal Air Force Regiment Gunner Jason Harper witnesses a foreign jet fly over his Aberdeenshire home. It is spilling a strange yellow smoke. Minutes later, his wife, Pippa, telephones him, shouting that she needs him. They then get cut off. He sets straight out, unprepared for the nightmare that unfolds during his journey. Everyone seems to want to kill him.

Along the way, he pairs up with fellow survivor Imogen. But she enjoys killing the living dead far too much. Will she kill Jason in her blood thirst? Or will she hinder his journey through this zombie filled dystopian landscape to find his pregnant wife?

The Fence is the first in this series of post-apocalyptic military survival thrillers from the torturous mind of former British army nurse, now horror and science fiction novel writer, C.G. Buswell.

Newspaper Reports

A SOLDIER'S LETTER

Sergeant Jack O'Connor, writing to his parents from 1st Southern General Hospital, Birmingham, England, says - I have received my issue, but not too bad. For a long time I had been thinking of the old saying, 'Play with the cat long enough and it will scratch you,' and seemed inclined to think it incorrect as for over two years I've been playing with the cat but it scratched. We were on the Ypres front. Got me in both legs and the sole of my right foot. Won't be able to walk for a while. I hope it won't interfere with me in after life. I've only doubts about one. Bed is not a place I was cut out for, though I could always do my time between the blankets. It is rotten having to lie here all day with very little to do. I received my first dope at the C.C.S., and the second at the First Australian General Hospital, Rouen. I wasn't too good before or after the dope. My legs were sore all that night. At Rouen I reckon I was lucky in getting into an Australian hospital. Sister Tyson was in charge of the ward. She knew the back country better than I did, having lived for some time at Junanbung station. This has knocked out my trip to Paris, but I will have furlough over there. Our advance had just commenced when I was knocked, needless to say, ere you have read it.

DIED ON SERVICE

TYSON - On Easter Sunday, at Hurdcott Camp, Salisbury, England, Sister J. I. Tyson (Topsy) third beloved daughter of John Tyson, Blanche Street, Elsternwick.

(The Argus, Melbourne, Victoria - Thursday 24 April, 1919)

PERSONAL

Cable advices have been received of the death of Sister J. I. Tyson, at Hurdcott Camp, Salisbury, England on Easter Sunday, says the 'Riverina Grazier.' Sister Tyson, who had been on active service for some consider-able time, was a daughter of Mr John Tyson, of Elsternwick, and a sister of Sister Tyson, of the Hay Hospital staff.

(Daily Advertiser, Wagga Wagga, NSW - Friday 2 May, 1919)

Commonwealth War Graves Commission Headstones The Defence Department, in 1920/21, contacted the next of kin of the deceased World War 1 soldiers to see if they wanted to include a personal inscription on the permanent headstone at St. John the Evangelist Churchyard at Sutton Veny. Space was reserved for 66 letters only (with the space between any two words to be counted as an additional letter) & the rate per letter was around 3½d (subject to fluctuation).

The expense in connection for the erection of permanent headstones over the graves of fallen soldiers was borne by the Australian Government.

(Information obtained from letters sent to next of kin in 1921)

Mr John Tyson, father of late Sister Fanny Tyson, wrote a letter to Base Records dated 24th September, 1921 stating that "I am pleased to say a suitableheadstone has been erected by her Sister & Brother & kind friends & comrades of the A.I.F. who were present at the time of her death."

Sister Fanny Isobel Catherine Tyson does not have a personal inscription on her CWGC headstone.
