QARANC Corps Stable BeltPicture and information about the QARANC Corps Stable Belt:
Queen Alexandra's Royal Army Nursing Corps (QARANC) is like most British army corps and regiments in having a corps stable belt. There is a photograph below. The belt
colours of the QARANC corps belt is a horizontal white, scarlet and a dark blue stripe. As with most UK stable corp belts it is steeped in history and once researched we
will include the origins and history of the QARANC stable corps belt.
If you are able to answer this question and help other members of the QARANC with such answers then please Contact Us. We would also love an up to date photo of a QA nurse wearing a corps stable belt. It is possible to buy a QARANC stable corps belt and buckle from online auction website Ebay where some private sellers and shops have many such QA items for sale. If you sell a QARANC or other military stable corps belts and or buckles for junior ranks and officers and have a shop or online store and would like it listed here for free then please contact me with information, your website and a photo. Since leaving the QA's we have done an assortment of self employed work and jobs, some which only take an hour a week, others have been full time. We
have written about these at our other website Findextrawork at

where we share the information for free to help others with information and resources about earning more money.

Dental Nurse Stable Belt
I have been sent the photograph of a corps stable belt above to identify. It has the QARANC buckle but not the scarlet, white and blue colours of the QAs belts. I suspect that it was for a member of the army dental services. Junior female ranks were members of the QARANC until the army medical services reforms in the late 1990s. So although they served with the RADC (Royal Army Dental Corps) they were members of the QARANC, trained at the QA Centre and followed the pay and rank structure of the QAs. Can anyone help with any info please? If so please e-mail me QA Trade BeltsEach specialist qualification member of the QA had their own trade belt. So the green and grey belt in the image above is an example of the corps belt worn by Dental Hygienists whilst Dental Clerk Assistants wore the green and grey corps belt. This was from the time when any female health care professional became a member of the QARANC. Each member of the QAs could be easily identified from the belt fabric colour. So registered nurses (RGN, RMN would wear a scarlet belt, the enrolled nurses (ENG, ENM) wore scarlet and grey, the Health Care Assistants (HCA) who were previously called Ward Stewardesses would wear all grey and the dental nurses and dental hygienists would wear green with a grey stripe. Each QA would wear the standard QARANC Corps buckle. Dental nurses are now members of the Royal Army Dental Corps (RADC). Other examples were the medical clerks though I cannot recall the colours of their corps stable belt fabric. The photo below is of an SEN belt and epaulettes - with thanks to Christine Eden (nee Lennox):
If you have a picture of a ward stewardess or enrolled nurse QARANC corps belt that I may use on the page then please contact me. He thinks that two nurses from the QAIMNS attended the exhumation due to the poor state of health of Walter Schellenberg. He would like to learn if any of the nurses kept a diary of the events leading up to the exhumation or sent any personal letters home to friends or family that may have provided an insight into Walter Schellenberg and the exhumation. Please contact Qaranc.co.uk if you have any information. Qaranc.co.uk have recently learnt about two former Military Hospitals that we would like to write about. These are the British Military Hospital at Wuppertal in Germany and BMH Benghazi. If you know any information, would like to share your memories or have photographs that we can use on the site then please contact Qaranc.co.uk A reader is writing an article about the demise of the Military Hospital for the RAMC Magazine and seeks some help. There was, in Kuala Lumpur, a hospital called BMH Kinrara. He would like to know when it opened and closed, what happened to the buildings and the staff. He thinks that Kinrara closed as Terendak opened and that the staff were transferred across to 34 Company RAMC? He would also like any information about the Military Maternity Hospital, Penang. If you can help then please contact Qaranc.co.uk There is a lovely photo of three QA Midwives from the 1960s about half way down on the Royal Herbert Hospital page. If you can help with information about the Maternity Unit in Woolwich or identify the QA Officers then please contact Qaranc.co.uk The BMH Dhekelia has new photos which includes a stunning picture of the demolition of the original building and some staff photos. The contributor would like some help with the date it was demolished and would love to hear from anyone who worked with her relative. |
